Cook Islands is a quick, efficient and cost-effective jurisdiction to register your private yacht. Unlike other maritime jurisdictions, there is no need: to form a Cook Islands Company or be a citizen of Cook Islands, and to appoint a local resident as local authorized representative.
Ownership requirements for the Cook Islands are easily met by joining the Cook Islands Yacht Squadron (CIYS) for a small annual fee - cost effective and hassle-free. That means you can use your offshore company or even your personal name to register your yacht.
Provisional registration can be done in 2 business days - upon receipt of payment and duly executed docs via email (if register under personal name: Form 1A and items 1, 2 or 3, 7 and Form 5A or Radio License from current registry) (if register under company: Form 1A and items 1, 2 or 3, 5 to 7 and Form 5A or Radio License from current registry ).
Permanent registration can be completed in 7 to 10 business days - upon receipt of original docs and forms (all items on the list below + photo to show new markings) by our office. Permanent registration must be completed within 90 days from the date of the Provisional Certificate.
Important Note: All forms for private yacht registration can now be signed by the yacht owner including Survey Form 2A. With immediate effect, Form 2A can be signed by the owner regardless of the age of the private yacht. Note this is only applicable for private yacht under 24m. Upon final completion, you will receive the Certificate of Registration, Radio Station License, Vessel Safety Certificate, Letter of Acknowledgment and membership card from CIYS.

- Form 2A (sign by seller)
- Form 2B (sign by Buyer)
- Form 12 ( If change of vessel name, additional fee applies)
- All original Cook Islands Ship Registry certificates issued must be returned
- CIYS Application for Membership (if Buyer is not a CIYS member)

- All original Cook Islands Ship Registry certificates issued must be returned
- Form 14 (We will provide document or download from links below. Seller to sign & seal)
- Board Resolution or Consent approving vessel to be deleted from Cook Islands and appointing Authorized Representative & Signor(We will provide sample. To complete and sign)
